THE PATTERN OF ORGANOPHOSPHORUS COMPOUNDS POISONING AT A TERTIARY CARE TEACHING HOSPITAL AND MEDICAL COLLEGE IN NORTHERN INDIA

Objective: A retrospective study was conducted in a tertiary care hospital collaborated with medical college, to analyze the drug therapy including antidotes administered and pattern of Organophosphorous compounds poisoning. Material methods: The data are analytically drawn from record sheets poisoning patients. collected tabulated were statistically analyzed SPSS version for Results: demographic 122 clinical cases documented 84.42 % suicidal tendency 15.57 accidental exposure patients, 66.39 age 15-24 years, 70.49 females rural background, 29.50 an urban background. Before pharmacotherapy, all patients subjected general supportive measures stomach wash, pharmacotherapy consisting Pralidoxime (23.77 %) Atropine (41.80 %). Conclusion: This present concluded that diagnosed can be managed by alone administration atropine as antidote which is available cost-effective compared Pralidoxime. Thus cost-effectiveness significantly reduced rational use strict implementation pesticide act further strengthen proper maintenance procurement exclusive agricultural purpose.
